The Iberians used a device called a clepsydra to aerate wine during celebrations. This object was a symbol of power for the family hosting social events in which the clepsydra took center stage. The origin of its name translates to “water thief,” as the wine is contained in a small vessel that is used to decant it directly into the glass.
Julieta Wibel has completely redesigned the clepsydra, adding a container with the same capacity as a bottle of wine and a clepsydra with the capacity of a glass. In this way, the Clepsidra is meant to evoke the Mediterranean amphora.
